Violin Toys

If you have a child that plays the violin and enjoys it then they might really enjoy some other violin toys to identify them as a violin fan. For a girl, something like Violin Charms or perhaps a violin music box.

Box Violin

Box violins are the standard for very young children learning to play violin following the Suzuki method. The idea is that they will learn to treat the box violin as if it were a real violin but at much less risk. They learn how to stand and how to hold the violin. They learn not to sit on it, hit it, bang things with it, or otherwise abuse it (at least we hope). They learn the names of the violin parts and where the strings are and they begin to learn some bowing techniques, and all on an instrument that costs less than $10. Now really, where can you beat that? When my daughter began taking Suzuki violin at three years old, the box violin she started with was one we made out of an old cardboard box and it was just that, boxy and rectangular. These box violins are much nicer and delicate and make it much easier to imagine that they are a real violin. Even if you aren’t planning for your child to use the Suzuki method, I think these box violins are great for imaginative play; you must supply your own music as it comes with no electronic music or flashing lights. And for those concerned about purchasing environmentally friendly toys and toys that won’t end up in the landfill this fits the bill nicely. How many biodegradable toys can you think of?

Electronic Toy Violin

The electronic toy violin is becoming more popular as the quality increases. Some of these only play a few songs but others of these toy violins play as many as 24 different songs. The tone varies widely but some are surprisingly good sounding almost like a real violin instead of like an electronic toy violin. They almost won’t drive you crazy after listening to your child play with them all afternoon.

Tiny Toy Violin

When you have a grown man playing a tiny toy violin you realize just how small it actually is. I’m actually kind of surprised at how nice the tone is.

Realistic Toy Violin

Here is a little boy playing with his realistic toy violin. I love his little singing voice.

Electronic Toy Violin

Here’s is a clip of a little boy playing with his electronic toy violin. This gives you an idea of how it works and sounds. For an electronic toy, the music sound really isn’t all that bad.

Toy Violin

I’ll try to get this site up soon. I hope for it to be a site where any toy violin possibly available will be available here–whether a box violin, an electronic toy violin, a wooden toy violin,or any other kind. Let me know if you don’t fond what you are looking for and I will do my best to try and find it for you. I’m also hoping to post some articles on why musical play and training is so good for your child’s development.
